Depending on the career stage, various options can be selected as solid foundation for scientific independence and further career paths. Examples are the acquisition of a so-called \u201cown position\u201d (temporary position as principal investigator) in a research project, the management of a junior research group or establishment of networks, cooperations and mobility programmes in Germany and abroad. From the variety of offers, we have compiled the most important funding sources and programmes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-12220\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Temporary Positions for Principal Investigators and Postdoc Fellowships<\/h2><div id=\"ac-12220\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The acquisition of your own third-party funded project is of great importance for your scientific career path. In the Heisenberg Programme, the following options are available: Heisenberg position, Heisenberg rotation position, Heisenberg professorship and Heisenberg fellowship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.volkswagenstiftung.de\/en\/funding\/our-funding-portfolio-at-a-glance\/lichtenberg-endowed-professorships\">Lichtenberg Endowed Professorship<\/a> of the Volkswagen Foundation is intended to establish the funding instrument of endowment as sustainable means of financing outstanding scientists on professorships.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-12223\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Mobility Programme, Networking and Cooperations<\/h2><div id=\"ac-12223\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nks-msc.de\/en\/Postdoctoral-Fellowships-PF-2251.html\">Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships (PF)<\/a> of the EU promote the individual career development of experienced researchers through training, research and international or intersectoral mobility. Competence enhancement on a broad basis shall pave the way to a successful career for the researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.humboldt-foundation.de\/en\/apply\/sponsorship-programmes\/humboldt-research-fellowship\">Humboldt Research Fellowships<\/a> of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation enable researchers at different stages of their career to carry out their personal research project &#8211; in cooperation with a host research institution of their choice in Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.daad.de\/en\/\">DAAD <\/a>promotes the international exchange of students and scientists. In the DAAD scholarship database you will find DAAD scholarships for stays abroad during your doctorate, but also scholarships from other funding institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.heinrich-hertz-stiftung.de\/de\/\">Heinrich Hertz Foundation<\/a> supports scientific exchange by awarding scholarships for international research stays to scientists working in North Rhine-Westphalia who are planning a research project abroad, and to scientists working abroad who are planning a research project in North Rhine-Westphalia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfg.de\/en\/research_funding\/programmes\/individual\/walter_benjamin\/index.html\">Walter Benjamin Programme<\/a> of the DFG enables researchers to conduct a research project abroad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfg.de\/en\/research_funding\/programmes\/international_cooperation\/initiation_international_collaboration\/index.html\"> intiate international collaborations<\/a>, the modules \u201cExploratory Workshops\u201d, \u201cTrips Abroad\u201d and \u201cGuest Visits\u201d can be applied for at the DFG.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dfg.de\/en\/research_funding\/programmes\/individual\/scientific_networks\/index.html\">Scientific networks of the DFG<\/a> enable a multi-year exchange across locations \u2013 including also researchers from abroad &#8211; on a specific topic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.daimler-benz-stiftung.de\/cms\/en\/promote\/scholarship-program\/postdoctoral-program-2023.html\">The Scholarship programme of the Daimler and Benz Foundation<\/a> supports selected postdocs, junior professors or heads of junior research groups.
